The Las Vegas Bulls secured a 24-10 victory on the road against the Lobos in Week 8 of the 1998 regular season, extending their winning streak to four games. With the win, head coach Jason Burton's Bulls improved to 7-1 overall and remain atop the division standings.

Bulls quarterback Garry Griggs delivered a productive passing performance, completing 24 of 41 attempts for 269 yards and three touchdowns but also threw three interceptions. The Bulls’ running game contributed with 64 yards on 29 carries and three rushing touchdowns, distributed among Larry Johnson, Morris Whitford, and Alden Wilder.

The game started with defensive pressure from the Bulls as Ricky Hunley intercepted Garry Griggs' pass early in the first quarter, though the Bulls recovered quickly. At 6:02 in the first quarter, Griggs connected with Larry Johnson on a four-yard touchdown pass, giving the Bulls an early 7-0 lead after a successful extra point by Michael Thomas.

The Lobos, coached by Ivory Roberts, struggled offensively to keep pace. Though quarterback Josef Smith completed 25 of 43 passes for 213 yards and one touchdown, he threw two interceptions. The Lobos managed only eight rushing yards on 16 carries. Their sole touchdown came late in the second quarter when Smith passed to Long Pete for a 10-yard score, closing the gap to 14-7 before halftime.

The Bulls extended their lead early in the second quarter with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Griggs to Morris Whitford. Michael Thomas successfully added the extra point, pushing the lead to 14-0 before the Lobos' response. In the third quarter, Thomas put three more points on the board with a 38-yard field goal, increasing Bull's advantage to 17-6.

Defensively, the Bulls forced three interceptions and recorded three sacks. Their defense limited the Lobos' ground game to minimal gains and prevented any red-zone success despite multiple drives.

The Lobos’ kicker Bradford Pettus converted one field goal during the game. Penalties were limited on both sides with the Bulls committing two penalties for 10 yards and the Lobos three for 28 yards.

The Bulls’ ability to capitalize on turnovers and convert scoring opportunities proved decisive in the victory. They now hold a 2-1 division record and remain in first place, while the Lobos fall to 5-3 overall and second in the division.

Next week, the Bulls will aim to continue their winning ways and solidify their standing as the division leaders heading deeper into the season.
